Croy to Glasgow via the Carron Valley

View from the Crow Road

If we were to recommend just one bike journey in Central Scotland, this would be it. Tough ascents of the Tak Ma Doon and Crow Roads are interspersed with a relaxing ride through the beautiful Carron Valley, followed by short sections of the Strathkelvin Railway Path and Forth & Clyde Canal. All this within 15 minutes train ride from Glasgow.

Distance: 36 miles

Terrain: Undulating with 2 steep climbs – almost completely flat after joining the Strathkelvin Railway Path. Mostly quiet country roads with a couple of busy sections through Kilsyth and Lennoxtown.

Time it took us: A whopping 8 hours!!! It was pretty hot so we took our time, and we stopped for late lunch at The Stables near Kirkintilloch

Route Map (please note that the off-road Strathkelvin Railway portion of this route from Lennoxtown to Kirkintilloch was not traceable in Google Maps)
